Learn more about Samantha Boyle’s mission and how to Spread Kindness To Save Lives.

Samantha (Sam) Boyle, a devoted mother from Toledo, Ohio, turned unimaginable personal tragedy into a powerful force for change. In 2017, Sam’s 14-year-old son, Luken, tragically took his own life following a cyberbullying incident. This devastating loss became the catalyst for Sam’s unwavering mission: to foster a culture of kindness, empathy, and hope among youth and in communities everywhere.

In 2018, with the help of her family, Sam founded the Luken T. Boyle Campaign for Kindness in honor of her son’s memory. Through this nonprofit, she and her family have dedicated their lives to promoting kindness, preventing cyberbullying/bullying, and advancing suicide prevention efforts. At the heart of the Campaign’s work is the creation of Kindness Rooms—safe spaces in schools where students can reflect, reset, and intentionally engage in acts of kindness toward others. These spaces have quickly become vital hubs of positivity in schools like Central Catholic High School, Crim Elementary, and many others across Northwest Ohio.

Sam’s advocacy doesn’t stop with Kindness Rooms. She actively shares Luken’s story through speaking engagements, school visits, and community events. Her candid conversations about mental health, bullying, and online behavior have opened doors for critical discussions around issues often shrouded in stigma. Sam believes deeply in the power of teaching empathy at a young age, emphasizing that adults must model kindness both online and offline, as young people are always watching.

Through every card written, every student encouraged, and every story told, Sam Boyle continues to inspire a movement that ensures Luken’s legacy lives on—a legacy that stands for kindness, compassion, and unwavering hope in the face of adversity.

“Spread Kindness. Save Lives.” Sam says—a simple, powerful truth that drives everything she does.
