Our “pilot” Kindness Room was put together by kindness in 2018-19 by many generous donors: Savage & Associates donated desks/tables when they moved offices; Julia Dempsey donated a love seat; Mona McGhee donated craft items and storage containers; Lita Crocker donated material and letters for the bulletin boards; Mike and Teresa Boyle donated the pegboard and accessories and the kindness wall display; and several people donated money which paid for paint, flooring, and blinds (which the CCHS maintenance staff installed). All these efforts made a beautiful and safe room for students and volunteers to create acts of kindness.
The Luken T. Boyle Campaign for Kindness at CCHS has created hundreds of cards and paper-craft items to show their appreciation to the staff and beyond the walls of CCHS. For example—blankets were made for the children’s hospital and cards of encouragement and appreciation were crafted for several different groups (the military, hospitals, shut-ins, and a variety of other service-based agencies).
We’re looking forward to having monthly meetings now that COVID restrictions aren’t as restrictive as last school year.
